Cake Ingredients
3 Cups AP or GF Flour (Cup 4 Cup)
2t Baking Powder
1/8t Salt
1/4t Clove
1/4t Nutmeg
2lbs Apples Peeled and Sliced
6 oz Cold Butter
3/4 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs
3/4 Cup Milk
Custard Ingredients
6 Egg Yolks
6T Sugar
1 1/2 C Whole Milk
1 1/2t Vanilla
Cake Instructions
8 or 9 inch round prepared cake pan. Oven to 400 degrees.
Medium bowl combine dry ingredients.
Cut butter into small cubes and work in by hand (like pie dough)
Stir in Sugar then your apples.
Separate bowl whisk milk and eggs
Stir milk and eggs into flour and apple mixture until just combined.
Once in cake pan top with 1/4 cup or so sugar.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes until top crisps.
Custard Instructions
Add sugar to egg yolks, whisk until pale yellow
Meanwhile bring milk to just under a boil.
Slowly add milk to eggs and sugar and whisk.
Back into the pot and slowly warm until it start to thicken (coats back of the spoon)
Off heat and add the vanilla
